Unit Description:  

  • In this unit students practically learn about databases by solving real life challenges.


Essential Questions:

  • What is a database?
  • How are databases organized?
  • How can I search/sort a database?
  • What are the advantages of computerized databases?

Key Elements 

Caring Thinking   

  • We can use databases and our skills to help people. For example by finding them cheap flights.

Collaborative Thinking

  • Databases are created by people and searched by people. We can add to and take away from some databases


Critical Thinking  

  • We need to use our reasoning skills to determine whether the information we find in databases is correct and appropriate

Creative Thinking  

  • We can think creatively about how we use and design databases
