Pre Class activity Your task is to check out what your group has to do during the next lesson in class. You will find that information in the other documents in this stem. You will be with the same learning group as you were with in the last lesson. You will need to locate the appropriate notes from the reading supplied and read the notes. Group 1 Communication Skills Your task is to provide a summary to the rest of the group that concentrates on the skills pertaining to communicating effectively in order to manage a project . In particular you are to look at things such as active listening, mirroring, paraphrasing etc and teach the other students about these techniques. Expect questions at the end of your talk. Group 2 Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Your task is to provide a summary to the rest of the group pertaining to conflict resolution when managing a project and the ‘art’ of negotiation. You will need to teach the other students about the information that you find and the strategies that you can enact to deal with conflict and negotiate effectively. Group 3 Team Building Your task is to provide a summary to the rest of the group related to team building and the importance of it. You can discuss the advantages of it, the problems that arise when teams don’t work and the team building skills and techniques that you find out about. Your job is to teach the other students about what you have discovered. Group 4 Project Management tools Your task is to provide a summary to the rest of the group of the various project management tools that can be used to keep a project on task, on time and on track to successful completion. The other students won’t know about what you find out, so you will need to teach them about it. You should use diagrams and examples wherever possible. Group 5 Interview techniques and Social and Ethical Issues related to project management. Your task is to provide a summary to the rest of the group related to social and ethical issues surrounding project management. There is some information available in the supplied reading, however you may wish to look online to find more detail. As this is a small topic you are also required to provide a summary of interview techniques that are needed as part of successful project management.
