Student Activity 2
Scenario
A Systems Analyst has developed a new point-of-sale system for a jeans store.
The following times have been estimated for tasks in the system design:
- create input design - 6 days, create output design - 2 days; identify data structures - 4 days; create internal specifications - 6 days.
These tasks occur in the order given and do not overlap - You are told by the Project Manager you need to add an additional task to run at the same time as 'create internal specifications' is to 'produce a quality plan - 4 days'
Task : Draw a Gantt Chart for these tasks. - Download the the Project Management tool provided below and install it on your computer.
- http://sourceforge.net/projects/projectlibre/ - for the latest version
- Also, copy from Network: Student Common \ Software for IST SDD IPT
- Create a new Project and call it "Developing Jeans POS Systems"
- Add a High Level Task/Activity for each of the Stages in the sample Gantt above.
- HINT: All Activities and Tasks involve DOING something, and should NOT be the DELIVERABLE from that Task -
Therefore, TASKS must start with a VERB not a NOUN
- e.g. Making...,Designing..., Investigating...., Researching ...
- NOT: "Statement of Problem", "Feasibility Report"
- These are NOUNS not VERBS
