Today’s computer tools are capable of displaying information of all types however there remain many non-computer tools that are used for display or that assist in the design of displays. For example, traditional books are still purchased and used in preference to their computer-based alternatives. Pen and paper is used for personal letters and inter-office memos despite the availability of computer-based alternatives. System models, such as dataflow diagrams are often hand drawn. Similarly the initial screen designs for many computer-based displays are developed using hand drawn storyboards. |
