INTRODUCE - Learning Aims using PPT

STARTER – Have the students arranges themselves, first by age, then gender, then hair colour  - other suggestions would be favourite food, or favourite sport

USING PPT – Explain that we are a human database, highlight was is meant by a record and a field

DEMONSTRATE – Disney top trumps. 

TASK - Students can then play the top trump game on the computer either in pairs or against the computer (AI) – note, the AI is quite challenging

DEMONSTRATE – how to create a Minion using 

then how to transfer a copy of the Minion image to the Top Trumps Template document using the Snipping Tool or other screen capture software.

DEMONSTRATE – How to complete the details of the Top Trump; name, age, intelligence, strength and speed

One way of determining the attribute values is to roll two dice    http://www.random.org/dice/

STUDENTS – are to create a Minion, use the Snipping tool to transfer it to the Top Trumps Template document and add appropriate data.

If there is time students could print their Minions cut them out and play a game against their partner(s).

PLENARY – Using PPT show an image of created Top Trump and discuss what is the DATA, the RECORD and the FIELDS
