Mini Project 2: Album or Magazine Covers 

Outcome: Students learn photo manipulation through editing photos of self and scans of magazines and/or album covers etc

Objective: Create an album or magazine cover for a fictitious band.  You are not allowed to use any images that you have not created yourself.

Take 2 (two) photos of yourself for inclusion in the album.

Design:

1. Brainstorm album/magazine cover designs (layout and content)
   
   
2. Storyboard your idea (electronically)

Task:

1. Students take photos of self using digital camera. 
   
   Students obtain (file size requirement 600 x 400) covers of magazines or album covers
   
   
2. With 2 images they integrate the photo of themselves with the obtained image and hand in the 3 images as JPG.
   That is, hand in:
       1 x Image of self
       1 x image of album cover
       1 x merged/integrated picture
   
   
3. Comment on the file sizes for each of the images provided
   
   
4. Discuss 

• What format will you publish in?
• What is the purpose of data compression?
• What is lossless and lossy compression?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of both.
